Climate Action Led by People in Boots, Not People in Suits
As a frontline community facing implications from climate change and ocean-based climate solutions, commercial fishermen have a critical role to play.
We are working together to make these voices heard.

What is “fishery friendly” climate action?
Climate action includes activities and policies that reduce, remove, or avoid greenhouse gas emissions at scales sufficient to hold global warming well below the internationally agreed target of 2°C.
Fishery friendly climate action achieves these goals through strategies that maximize synergies and minimize risks for fishery-supporting ecosystems and the communities that depend on them.

Current Initiatives
The Fishery Friendly Climate Action Campaign catalyzes, incubates, and accelerates fishermen-led climate action through partnerships, conversations, and a suite of movement support services. Current initiatives include:
-
Fishery Friendly Climate Action Pathways
Goal: To steer state-level climate action planning towards “fishery friendly” pathways that jointly prioritize carbon neutrality and fishery resilience.
-
Transition to a Low Carbon Fishing Fleet
Goal: To put fishermen at the helm of their own energy transition.
-
“Eat Seafood Go Solar” Campaign
Goal: To make rooftop solar a viral energy solution among people who harvest, process, and enjoy eating seafood.
