Lessons Learned from Fishermen’s Engagement in the ‘Maine Won’t Wait’ Process

In this session, we provided a brief overview of Maine’s 2020 and 2024 climate action planning processes and examined fishermen’s formal and informal engagement in these efforts. The session highlighted key lessons from Maine’s experience, focusing on the successes and challenges of fishermen’s engagement in these processes. The insights gained from the Maine case study can be applied to fishermen’s engagement in the states developing climate action plans in 2025 under the EPA’s CPRG program. The session was led by Sofia Morris, a senior at Brown University, collaborating with the Fishery Friendly Climate Action Campaign for her senior thesis.
